Aotearoa People's Network

Our Name

The Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa is a network for the people and this is reflected in our name.

"Aotearoa" identifies the People's Network as belonging to and serving the people of New Zealand.

"Kaharoa" is a term used for the largest "seine" nets used in traditional Māori communities. The Aotearoa People's Network is a "net" that spreads nationwide connecting individuals, libraries and communities with each other and with innumerable digital resources.

Our name reflects who we are, where we are from and what our purpose is.
